The price of purpose

So much has been written about purpose. It's all good. The Purpose Driven Church/ life , etc. Awesome and inspiring books. It sounds so wonderful. "Find your purpose and your life will matter." Hmmm....Let's take a look at some people in the Bible that knew their purpose and what it cost them. Let's start with King David. He knew when he was just a young boy that his purpose was to be a King. Did he start announcing this? Did he run an ad campaign to make sure he got the popular vote? Nope, he went back to shepherding, then onto bear and lion slaying, then onto giant slaying...then running for his life, then becoming king, then having a man murdered...oh  my gosh! Does the Bible say anywhere...anywhere that to know your purpose is to be successful? I've been listening to "Elevation Church" and "Life Church". The sermons have been quite unique and eye opening. Trust me, I'm a "professional Christian", meaning that if it'

Blessings beyond measure!

I really have struggled with a title for this blog, keep reading and I'm sure you'll see why. The past few months the Lord has put it on my heart to give things away. I'm not talking about t-shirt with holes in them...lol. Come on, you know you've done it. I'm talking about the creations of my  hands and the visions of my soul. The tough stuff. What's in it for me? I have no idea, yet. The first bear I gave away was to a baby in a coma that woke up! I gave a bear away to a little girl going through chemotherapy....it had a big bow in its hair and promised to hold onto it until the little girl could wear it. I think I've been looking at everything through lenses that were clouded with false expectations. I expected God to use my talents and my visions and my gifts to make me rich...You know, "The blessings of the Lord make you rich and He adds no sorrow to it." Proverbs 10:22. I believe that the hand of the diligent is blessed.  "...dili

Easy stuffed bell peppers

The world has not come to an end..lol. I’m just cooking. It’s ok. Here’s a healthy meal that looks pretty and looks time consuming, but it isn’t... time consuming, I mean. (3 servings) 3 red bell peppers Brown 1 pound of lean ground beef Cook 1 cup of whole wheat rice Add 1 can of garbanzo beans Add 1 small can of tomato sauce Add 1 clove of fresh pressed garlic 1/2 a yellow onion Italian seasonings (as much as you want; no salt required) Start the bell peppers first. 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Do not over cook the bell peppers. You want. them to remain firm Cook 1 cup rice separately ( use instant wheat rice it takes about 10 minutes to cook) Brown the beef, **Do not drain the beef** add Garlic, onions, Italian seasonings, tomato sauce, garbanzo beans and add cooked wheat rice and simmer about 10 minutes. A religious conversation starring Job

Let's talk about Job. He got a pretty bad wrap from his friends but then God did something amazing. Watch this.. Job talked plainly to God. God listened then answered Job, then told Job to pray for his friends? Is God crazy? Job  needed help his friends, they thought all of Job's troubles were because he made God angry. He wasn’t well when he prayed for his friends! That’s madness. ( The Message Bible ) Before God healed Job he and God had a deep conversation. In chapter 6 Job said, "The arrows of God Almighty are in me, poison arrows- I'm poisoned throughout! Is it any wonder that I'm screaming like a caged cat?" He continued his rant and ends it by saying in chapter 6, "All I want is an answer to one prayer, a last request to be honored. Let God step on  me - squash me like a bug and be done with me, at least I'd have the satisfaction of not having blasphemed the Holy God before being pressed past my limits!" Wow, I think Job was mad.  La

Online Dating Scams ALERT!

I was going to call this edition "Red flags", but I am giving you so much more information than a "warning " flag could convey. Let's talk about online dating scam pattern. As with any scam there is a pattern of behavior. I have experienced these repeatedly. Step 1) question... "How long have you been on this site?" This question is to see how gullible you are and to see if you have been scammed before. It is a test to see if you qualify and even to see how desperate you are to find a suitable companion. If you answer "I am new to this site", then all bets are off. Well, what if you are new to the site. You don't have to tell strangers anything. That's a very important rule to apply to anything done online or even in person. Let's call it the "I do not know you" rule. Step 2) "You are the most beautiful woman/handsome man, I've ever seen." Followed by "Where are you from?" Okay, let's

Anorexia; the cause and side effects

I'm not going to talk about "clinical anorexia". Why? Because there's nothing  clinical about it. We have been under-educated in regards to anorexia. There have been many medical articles and even testimonials written about it. So, why am I writing about it? Because I've looked it in the eyes and I know its name: death. I started starving myself at a very early age. It wasn't really noticeable because people just thought I was a "finicky" eater. At the age of 12 I weighed 78 pounds and was five foot 2. Maybe that doesn't sound dramatic for a 12 year old, but it was for me. I had no strength, I was sick all the time and I was suffering silently. Anorexia starts out as a way to control things around you when there is nothing else you can control. I had a lot of difficulty growing up. I "believed" (why, nobody knows) that I was a mistake and that I had ruined people's lives by being born. Do Not blame my family. I doubt they realiz

Do you believe you have favor?

I'm going to tell you a couple of stories (real life events) then pose two questions "Do you believe you have favor ?" and "How would you live differently if you did believe it?" First story. I met a young lady that needed a new robe, slippers and pajamas. What she had was "well used". So, I found out what sizes she wore and said, "Okay Lord, what are you going to do?" I then went to Walmart (Did you know that God uses Walmart?) lol. I walked around and guess what I found? They had a robe in her favorite color, they had bedroom slippers just like her (dead) ones and they had pajamas in the right size and they were all on sale! The robe was $3.00!!!! Nothing was more than $3.00. When I gave them to the young lady she said, "God really loves me." I said, "Yes he does because I told him what you needed and asked him what he was going to do about it and ....tada...this is what he did."  There was something else this young

That could not have happened!

Yes, I made a teddy bear and for some odd reason I decided to name it "No Nap!" It was the first bear that I made pajamas for... wrong preposition order...oops.  Anyway, I made the pajamas of the softest material I could find, then I crocheted (who am I) around the fringes to make it look like pajamas. I also made a little blanket to go with it. I did that a few months ago...well around Valentine's day. My little business brain said, "nobody is going to buy a teddy bear named "No Nap!" Are you crazy? Yet to be determined...lol. So, I put him on the shelf with the other "creations" and he just sat there...staring at me....like he was waiting for something. I would go by my "inventory" and say "Sell!" It was like that teddy bear was saying "NO!" I have an vivid imagination by the way. I talked a little about this in my previous blog, but I felt compelled to give my "inventory" away. I had made all these

Ink warning: Printer Fatal Error

I have (had) a very nice printer/fax/copier/scanner for years. Then it happened. I ran out of ink. Of course I'd run out of ink before, but this tine there was a "SALE!" Normally I buy only the name brand ink because...well, I'll explain in a minute. But like I said, there was a sale! 'nough said. I could buy 3 ink cartridges at a lower price than I could buy one! Who wouldn't want that? PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! So, I bought it (of course or there would be no blog about it). I have an HP printer/everything else. It's been very good to me and I've enjoyed it for many years. Matter of fact I've enjoyed it so long that they don't make them anymore. I read the directions after the printer message said, "Fatal Error" "Printhead" . So, I thought, "I must need to run the "clean the cartridge" and "align the printhead". NOPE! Did not work. So, I took the printhead apart to see what the problem wa

I Pulled the wrong string!

Image
If you refer to “yarn the fabric of life” you’ll know what I’m talking about. I discovered where to pull the yarn from so it doesn’t end up being a ball of mess. Yes! I conquered yarn...until. One day I was close to the end of the .... I don’t even know what to call it... bolt? String? Strand? Anyway you get my drift. I decided at that point it really didn’t matter where I pulled the yarn from. After all...there wasn’t much left. Wrong! While I untangled the mess I found something I’d been looking for. I turned on YouTube and Elevation Church was having a service. The series was entitled, “Maybe God?” He was talking about when your phone shows a text from somebody and it says “maybe;?” I had a friend tell me that even though she has me in her “contacts” list, whenever I text her it says “Maybe Barjeana “. Well how many Barjeana’s do you know? That’s what I thought. I only know of one... me! His perspective really caught my attention. The sermon was not a “self help” or “motivational
