God will find someone else?
Today I’d like to challenge the thought: “If I don’t fulfill Gods plan, He’ll find someone else”.
Above is a picture of a precious moment between my nephew and my mother at her recent wedding celebration. I don’t think anyone else could touch my mother’s heart, in that moment, like my nephew did.
There are many biblical examples of the importance of one person called to do something supernatural and God pursuing them.
Let’s start with Jonah. Jonah refused to follow God’s plan and ran from God, God’s response was very telling.
If the theory of expendability is correct, why didn’t God just find someone else? Why didn’t he just discard Jonah and move on to the next? Why did God go to extremes to get Jonah to Nineveh
Jonah wasn’t willing or obedient. He still had a choice. He knew he was wrong and told the crew of the ship that the storm was his fault when he couldn’t deny that he’d disobeyed God and took on the responsibility that he, alone could save the ship, he told the crew to throw him overboard in order to save the ship from sinking. Then God chased him down by bringing a large fish to “Uber” him to Nineveh.
Hmmm, makes me wonder. Aren’t we all expendable? If God can use anyone, why did He chase down Jonah?
What about king David? The prophet had to remind David’s father that he had another son. Then the prophet went to David, why not one of the other more mature and physically stronger sons? Why David when he eventually betrayed his promises to God through lust and murder of an innocent man?
What about Sampson? He let his flesh rule him and drag him near to death. Why didn’t God choose someone else?
If God could pick anyone, other than us, to fulfill His plan, then are we expendable. Why would it matter if we rejected His plan? Wouldn’t his ability to find someone else make our lives meaningless?
Yet, through many preachers I was convinced that if I didn’t follow his plan for me, no great loss.
If I believe that I’m expendable then my responsibility for my actions and meaning of my life accomplish nothing and give me an excellent excuse to do nothing
When we realize He will chase us down like He did Jonah, that makes a difference in our need to participate. We are not expendable. Acceptable and participate in His will matter. You are not expendable, but you also don’t have to be perfect.
Humility is accepting your strengths and willingly giving those strengths back to God. He is not ashamed of us, He wants to partner with us. So, let’s do that.
God gave the gift. he pursued you. You do your part and fulfill His purpose for your life. To God be the glory as He encourages you through people and don’t be afraid to take joy in the process by saying , Thank you.”
