Reflecting
Psalms 23. “He leads me by still waters…”
I’ve read the Bible most of my life. I love to read I’ve heard this verse preached over and over again, but today, as I was reading a different book, I grasped a principle I had not seem previously.
Nothing is new under the sun, but there are insights that we miss that can change the way we understand truth. The way I saw this scripture unexpectedly opened my eyes to a new insight.
I was thinking about the fact that evil and deception are rooted in truth. If a lie didn’t start with truth, we would recognize the lie and immediately run from it.
Anyway, I like fiction books They pull from the dreamer in me and. help me see beyond the possible
As I was reading the book I mentioned, there was a lake that was only clear when the person went into it. If a person was looking on the outside, the water still looked murky.
I saw a spiritual concept in that word picture. We are all created in the image of God, but because of the sin of Adam, everything about God is murky. We can only see clearly by being immersed in Him …ie… the lake.
Once we are born again, the truth is birthed inside us, even as we return to a world that’s murky with sin and full of deception
Why did David say, “ He leads me by still waters and restores my soul” ? The idea of reflecting took on a new meaning. He leads me by still waters to purify my soul from the murkiness around me The water is perfectly still so I not only see my own reflection, but I see His. Another scripture says that now we see unclearly as in a glass, but then we shall see Him face to face. Isn’t that what reflection is, seeing into a mirror?“
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

I stopped by a lake tonight at the perfect time to capture the reflection of what is vivid in the light and how that reflection changes as the light dims as I captured the image above.
I stoped to reflect on my thoughts, such as the way I see God and how I see myself.
I want to know Him face to face, but for now I can only see Him in a reflection. Taking time to really look, see Him and myself through His eyes are important to the way I see truth in a murky world. “Open my eyes Lord, I want to see Jesus ..”
